Ashley Jordan Ferira, PhD -  ISPP Dietetic Intern

Ashley received her undergraduate degree in Biological Basis of Behavior and minored in nutrition at The University of Pennsylvania, where she investigated the neuroendocrine changes post-bariatric surgery in obese, binge eating disorder patients for her honors thesis research.  She recently completed her PhD in Foods and Nutrition at The University of Georgia; her doctoral dissertation examined the role of vitamin D status and supplementation in cardiometabolic risk and insulin sensitivity in children.  Ashley is currently completing her dietetic internship under the mentorship of BLB President, Bonnie Berube, and is interested in a career in nutrition involving entrepreneurship, consulting, industry, and research, particularly related to obesity and related comorbidities. Having been recognized as a UGA Outstanding Teaching assistant, Ashley is also passionate about teaching and giving nutrition presentations in the community to propagate sound, evidence-based nutrition principles. Ashley currently serves as the Past President for the Northeast Georgia Dietetic Association and is a member of the Houston Area Dietetic Association and Academy of Nutrition and dietetics.
